Miles Batson, a recent Farmington High School graduate, has been selected as one of six recipients of the prestigious Bodenhamer Fellowship at the University of Arkansas! The competitive scholarship provides up to $80,000 over four years to support tuition, housing, books, and additional academic opportunities.
During his time at FHS, Miles set himself apart through extensive involvement in school activities and academics. He served as president of the National Honor Society, founded and led the speech and debate club, and participated actively in theater and Quiz Bowl. His academic achievements include recognition as a National Merit Finalist and AP Scholar with Distinction. He also took part in Arkansas Governor's School, Arkansas Boys State, and the Academy for Public Service, and was honored as Mr. FHS for his contributions to the school community.
Miles, who intends to pursue engineering studies, earned the fellowship through exceptional academic performance and leadership. The Bodenhamer Fellowship, one of the University of Arkansas's most competitive scholarships, requires candidates to maintain a minimum 32 ACT score and 3.9 GPA while demonstrating strong leadership abilities, community service, and academic prowess.
This summer, before classes begin, Miles will join his fellow recipients on a five-day educational trip to Washington, D.C. The traditional experience allows incoming fellows to explore the nation's capital and build connections with their peers before starting their university studies.
The Farmington community celebrates this remarkable achievement and looks forward to following Miles's continued success at the University of Arkansas!
