Farmington High School is celebrating a remarkable academic achievement: senior Taylor Conran has been named one of only 621 semifinalists nationwide in the highly selective 2025 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program.
The U.S. Presidential Scholars Program is one of the nation’s most prestigious honors for high school students, recognizing seniors who excel in academics, leadership, community involvement, and the arts or technical fields. Taylor was selected from a pool of almost 6,000 candidates invited to apply, placing him among the top students in the country.
Taylor's teachers describe him as a standout in every sense of the word. “From the first time he walked into my classroom, I knew he was truly a remarkable student,” said AP Calculus teacher Morgan Clark. “Taylor's dedication, hard work, and ability to overcome any obstacles he encounters have served to prove that first impression was correct.”
The semifinalists will now be reviewed by the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars and the U.S. Department of Education. Up to 161 finalists will be selected and announced in May. These distinguished scholars will be invited to Washington, D.C., for the National Recognition Program, where they will be honored with the Presidential Scholar Medallion in a special ceremony.
This honor not only reflects Taylor's individual accomplishments, but it also highlights the strength and support of the Farmington High School community. The school—and the town—will be proudly cheering him on as he advances in this prestigious competition.
